Microsoft + Monkees = Miracles

This year, the Monkees joined forces with Microsoft to GIVE time, technology, and hope to Battle Monument School.  Battle Monument is an under-funded public school located in Baltimore County, MD  for students between the ages of 3 and 21 with profound mental and physical disabilities.

The week before the transformation, Monkees used amazon.com to purchase over $18,000 worth of school supplies from teacher’s Dream Lists in 3 hours.  AMAZING.

Look through the pictures to see all the serving and loving that was done on that incredible day. Once again, the givers became the receivers of huge blessings from the teachers, staff, administrators, parents, and students that make up Battle Monument. We are now all part of a single, bigger community together.

A HUGE thank you to photographers Rick Fensch and Sean Dackermann for donating their time and talent to provide us with these photos!

Thanks to Microsoft and Monkee See-Monkee Do, more wishes than we could ever have imagined were granted to Battle Monument School. Both UPS and FedEx trucks continue to deliver gifts sent by Monkees from far and wide. Each box delivered brings with it LOVE for our very special students. We know this…we can feel it. And, what can be said about Sunday, October 28th when volunteers from all over took the time to come to our school despite the impending threat of Hurricane Sandy? Despite the damp chill of the day, the school was filled with the warmth of caring and the sunshine of the smiles of so many volunteers. The miracles performed include the installation of new technology geared to assist our special needs students. In addition, our Angel Garden was completely landscaped and decorated with colorful windsocks and whimsical, brightly colored bird houses. (Even our visiting Mama duck (she nests every year in the garden) was given her own Ducky House.) The Apartment (where students learn life skills) was completely renovated and wherever you went in the school, wonderful things were happening thanks to so many wonderful people. What has happened for Battle Monument School, thanks to the generosity and caring of Microsoft and Monkee See-Monkee and countless volunteers will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you all.

Your wish list was fulfilled before I had a change to even see it…Being a mom of special needs kids I just want to say “THANK YOU” for all you do for these precious children. Jesus said, “Whatever you do for the least of these you do unto me”…. Blessings…….
